Meet The Band

The Hobbies started life as five friends getting together and playing a few songs. After only a few practice sessions, it became apparent that what we considered to be a hobby, in fact became The Hobbies.

We are a live band formed in the North-East in May 2007 comprising of Drums, Bass, Guitar, Keyboard and Vocals.

We pride ourselves on playing 100% live music to our audience.

Kevin McCarthy

Pure beginner to band life!

Kevin joined the band to add some Keyboard to the mix. After a few weeks, he was asked to try lead vocals. Now today, Kevin is our frontman!

Kev brings his excellent guitar skills and previous experience with other bands. This experience has been a key factor in driving the band forward.

Mark Leonard

Since joining The Hobbies, Mark has moved the band on dramatically, adding some great solo work within our set.

Al Robinson

Bass Guitarist / Backing Vocals

New addition to The Hobbies!

Al joined after our long serving bass player Steve left the band. Al is the driving force of the band and his bass playing provides the foundation of the music.

John Knox

Latest addition to The Hobbies

Knox is the youngest member of the band, but it seems like he brings decades of experience. He is very versatile, and can adapt to any style of playing.

What did we ever do without him!

The equipment grew and grew and we realised that we needed an engineer. Having worked with other bands in the past, Phil joined the band.
